Geermany made a great start

Munich (Germany): The host country has made a great start to the 2024 European Championship, Germany crushed Scotland 5-1 at the Allianz Arena in the first match of the tournament. Germany dominated from the opening minute and scored their first goal in the 10th minute when Joshua Kimmich put the ball into the goal from the flank, which Florian Wirtz put into the back of the net.

Germany kept up the pressure and doubled their lead in the 19th minute. Florian Wirtz and Jamal Musiala, both 21-year-olds, also became their team's two youngest goalscorers in Euro 2019 history.

Captain Ike Gundogan beat the Scottish press with a smooth turn and worked the ball through the opposition defence to Kai Havertz. The Arsenal forward pulled the ball back to young star Jamal Musiala, who made no mistake in converting the opportunity. Things got worse for Scotland when Ryan Porteous made a hasty tackle on Gundogan and the hosts were awarded a penalty just before halftime.

Havertz was called upon to take responsibility and the 25-year-old scored the third goal in the 45th minute of the game. A double change in the second half saw Niklas Fulkrug and Leroy Sane replace Kai Havertz and Florian Wirtz. Fulkrug made an immediate impact as he struck the ball with a powerful volley that went into the top corner and gave the goalkeeper no chance to make it four. He later scored his second goal as well but the goal was ruled out for offside.

The Scottish team scored their consolation goal in the 87th minute when Rudiger put the ball into his own net from a set-piece to make it 4-1. Emre Can finished off their opponents with a goal from outside the box in the 93rd minute. Germany couldn't have asked for a better start to their home Euros as they would look to build on this performance and hope to get all nine points from the group stage. Scotland, on the other hand, will have to put this defeat behind them and put up a better show against Hungary and Switzerland if they want to progress beyond this stage for the first time in their history.
